Conversation With Stone
“And, as I thought, she danced the way Home. The desire to always carry her Place with her and walk on her land went through a performance that ended in complete freedom.”
A Gift of Stone
“Exploring a unifying Sámi art expression,
the project is an extended choreographic study of physical boundaries, stories, experiences and spirituality of and in a landscape in Várjjat / Varanger.”
Spacing between us
“In a joint project, the artists’ collaboration is looking for ways to share the subjective feelings of their personal, individual spaces to the viewers.”
Landscapes and sami roots in
Katarina’s work
Working with place-responsive methods, the Sami- Norwegian landscape becomes the co-creator of her works, drawing upon her own heritage and Sámi roots.
Katarina Lisa uses her practice to shed light on important cultural matters, where nature is seen as sacred and alive, and needing to be listened to.

about katarina
“Many of her performances are based on her ongoing project regarding the heritage and spiritual bonding with the landscape where Lisa carries family Sámi roots.”
“Her artworks not only relate to the art-world, but to nature, landscapes, and society, giving voice to the heard-unheard, the seen-unseen.”
to those who carry the deepest memories
Aknowledgement
“I want to acknowledge that I live on a land of two peoples, the Norwegian peoples, and the Sámi people.
The Sámi people are the indigenous peoples of the Fennoscandia Region and are recognized as one people, and one nation, Sápmi. Sápmi reaches across four countries’ borders; Norway, Russia, Sweden, and Finland.
With honour, gratitude and my deepest respect for our Sámi indigenous community and worldwide indigenous communities, I wish to acknowledge the past, the present and the coming future.
To the foremothers, forefathers and to the children, to those who carry strength, vulnerability, knowledge, and wisdom of living with the land, the culture, and relations. The people, the stones, the waters, the plants, the animals, the insects, the seen and unseen, the stories, the languages, the worldviews, and the oral traditions.
To those who carry the deepest memories of the Earth.
May we learn to live humbly with Her and you, to live side by side, harmoniously and listening.”
