The art project FORBINDELSER- Tre forlatte husmannsplasser was initiated by Toten Kunstforening and curator Beate Juell. The project started in spring 2016 and was carried out in spring and autumn 2017, with the production and presentation of a book in 2018. The process started with the question: What happens when you focus on stories and places that are not in the public eye through art? The theme of homesteading has a broad impact on Toten, where great differences between farmers and homesteaders have characterized society up until recently. There are very few original homesteads left, and their stories have been silenced. Three artists participated in the project: Caroline Ho-Bich-Tuyen Dang, visual artist Kjell Samkopf, musician and composer, Tone Gellein, text, video and performance. Toten Kunstforening was named Art Association of the Year in 2017 by the Norwegian Art Associations for this project.

Where was it performed?

At Drager/ Vestre Toten and Pinslund/ Østre Toten. The performances happened at the two sites both during spring and autumn, following the natures cycles of the time and space, during the year 2017.

Who else participated?

Installation and idea: Visual artist Caroline Ho Bich-Tuyen Dang in collaboration with dancer Katarina Skår Lisa and composer and musician Kjell Samkopf

Katarina Skår Lisa attended as a dancer at two of the three homesteads; Drager/ Vestre Toten and Pinslund/ Østre Toten
